Congratulations, Pictona, for once again stepping up to donate blood in our second ever blood drive. Held back in November, our statistics are now in: 11 units donated and potentially 33 lives saved. This is awesome and a testament, yet again, to the generous spirit of Pictona members and friends. Well done, Pictona!

Join us December 31st 2021, from 10am to 12pm for Pictona's first annual New Years Eve Pickleball Drop Scramble.

Members price : $4.99

Non-member price: $14.99 (daily pass rate included in price to non-members)

Each participant will receive a glass of Mimosa, Champagne or a soda at the completion of the event as we celebrate ringing in the New Year!

Open to all skill levels.

This event is limited to 40 participants and will be hosted on the uncovered courts located in the West and South pods.

Register by calling the Welcome Desk at 386-310-7067 or go online here. When registering you will be asked to provide your self rated Pickleball skill level.

Event Game Rules

  1. Players will be assigned a starting position based on the event coordinators knowledge of the players skill and their given skill rating at registration
  2. All games will be played first to 15, switch ends at 8. 15 minute time limit. A total of 7 rounds will be played (1hr and 45 minutes)
  3. Court 24 will be considered the high court, and court 9 will be the low court
  4. Win your game and move up one court. Lose your game and move down a court. The exception being the winning team on court 24 and court 9 will stay on their respective courts
  5. To decide partners for the next round a player from the winning team and a player from the losing team will put a number 1 or 2 behind their back. They will then show their number. If the number of fingers match those players will play together otherwise they will split with the other partners. The exception to this is the winning team on court 24 and the winning team that moves up from court 23. These teams will not split and will continue to play together
  6. All serves must be drop serves!
  7. After announcing the score, you will announce how many times you will allow the ball to bounce before serving. This shall be how many points you are playing for. As an example: The game is starting, and Sally announces the score "0-0-2". She then announces "2". Sally performs a drop serve and allows the ball to bounce twice before hitting it to her opponent. Sally and her partner win the point. Sally rotates and now announces the score as "2-0-2" and then announces "3" before serving to her opponent. Sally loses the rally, and the ball goes to the other team as it would normally in any pickleball game
  8. You must announce the number of times you are letting the ball bounce and therefor the number of points you are playing for. The minimum number you can announce is 1, there is no maximum number
  9. Should the server announce a number and then strike the ball on a different number of bounces that is a fault, and they lose the ball
  10. Should the server fail to announce the number of bounces it is a fault and they lose the ball
  11. You must finish the game with exactly 15 points. If you miscalculate and end up beyond 15 points it is a fault, those points do not count, and you lose the ball. As an example, Bob announces the score as “13-8-1” and then announces “3”. His team wins the point giving them a score of 16. This a fault and Bob’s team loses the ball and their score remains at 13
  12. All other rules for pickleball play and drop serves are in effect

CHALLENGE COURT RULES

The Challenge Court Rules are as follows:

  1. AdventHealth Covered Court #5 is designated as Pictona’s Challenge Court
  2. All games on the Challenge Court are doubles played to 11, win by 2, switch ends at 6
  3. The winning team may stay on the Challenge Court until they are defeated, or whenever they choose to the relinquish the court
  4. At the end of each game, the players with the next 2 paddles in the Challenge Court rack will take the court as challengers. If the winning team chooses to relinquish the court, the next 4 paddles in the Challenge Court rack will take the court
  5. A paddle rack will be placed on the North fence of court #5 (closest to the double door entry to the Welcome Desk lobby) and will be where teams stack their paddles to enter the Challenge Court. The paddle rack on the South end of court 5 will remain for players to rotate on and off courts 1-4

AdventHealth Covered Court #5 will be designated as the Challenge Court at all times, with the following exceptions:

  1. Friday Night Music Nights - All 8 AdventHealth Courts will be designated as Open Play
  2. Monday Night Novice Play – Courts 1-5 will be available as Open Play courts for players with a 2.0-3.0 skill rating
  3. Any time AdventHealth Covered Court #5 is needed to conduct a Pictona instructional class
  4. Any special event hosted by Pictona where AdventHealth Covered Court #5 is needed for play
  5. Management reserves the right to place the Challenge Court back into Open Play during inclement weather if it serves the members to allow more players to rotate on and off the courts

Members and Visitors to Pictona:

Please note that, temporarily, there will be no access to the gravel road on the west side of Pictona. No cars are to drive beyond the end of the pavement. The gravel road has been surveyed for future pavement with markers staked out. 10th street access to Pictona Way is also closed. Garden access is from the south double gate. Gardeners are not to drive around the barriers to park near the west gate to the gardens.

You may enter and exit Ospreyland next to the electrical substation near the Welcome Desk entrance.

Saturday, December 4: The Holly Hill parade will close Ridgewood Ave from approximately 9:30 to noon. This means no access to Pictona via Ridgewood Ave during this time for pickleball players, Toys for Tots players, and Sip and Shop participants. All these people should enter Pictona from 10th Street. It would be best to come from the west on 10th Street and turn left into Pictona Way. The 10th Street gate will be open on Saturday only, and a volunteer will regulate access. Pictona visitors and players will be directed to drive around the west side of the courts and park in the paved spaces on the north side, east parking lot, or Ospreyland. People who are looking for a parking place to watch the parade will be denied entry.

We thank you for your patience as construction begins. Please know that these inconveniences are only temporary, and the end result will be the spectacular addition of Pictona 2!

Clean Hands Make the World a Better Place!

Join FHCP and Pictona this month in donating unused and unopened bar soap, liquid soap and hand sanitizer. These products will be distributed to those in need by partner charities like the Jerry Doliner Food Bank, The Salvation Army in Volusia County, Daily Bread in Brevard County, and Family Life Center in Flagler County.

You can deposit items in the boxes located at the Welcome Desk and inside the Senior Activity Center. The Soap Drive begins December 1 and ends December 22.

Come join us at Pictona for one of our most popular events, a Pictona Scramble!

Scrambles are free for members and nonmembers must pay the daily pass rate to play. All Scrambles are limited to 40 participants.
