After a great response to our first and second Challenge Court nights we are adding more courts to accommodate the number of players that want to participate. The Challenge Court series will now be held on AdventHealth Covered Courts 1 through 5 on Thursdays from 6.30pm to 9pm. Please see below for the new updates.
How does the Challenge Court work?
Pictona’s designated Winners Challenge Court will be covered court #5. Covered courts #1 through #4 will be used as Work Up Courts. The Challenge Court series will be held on Thursdays from 6.30pm to 9pm.
At 6.30pm, a blind draw using playing cards will determine starting positions on the court and in the paddle rack. All games are played to 11 win, by 2 switch ends at 6. The winners will serve first and begin on the North end. Games will have a 15-minute time limit. Those who want to enter the Challenge will use the paddle rack located at Court #5. Simply place yours and your partners paddle in the next two spaces available. When the games are complete winners, losers and those waiting to enter the Challenge will rotate in the following way.
Winners on the Winners Challenge Court (court #5) will stay
Winners on the Work Up Courts 1, 2, 3 & 4 will move up to the next court as shown on the diagram
Losers on the Winners Challenge Court (court #5) and losers on Work Up Courts 4 & 3 will move down one court as shown on the diagram
Losers on Work Up Courts 1 & 2 will exit and go back to the paddle rack located at court 5
The next 4 paddles (2 teams) waiting in the paddle rack will enter the Challenge at Work Up Court 1 (court #1)
Teams will stay with their partners while they are playing. If you lose and exit the courts, you may change partners the next time you re-enter the Challenge, feel free to switch it up if you get knocked off the challenge court!
Games will be limited to 15 minutes using the clock on the wall above court #5, starting promptly at 6.30pm. It is the responsibility of the next 4 players who will be rotating into the Challenge to call time at the 15 minute mark. Games that are tied play a sudden death point to decide the winner.

Pictona was delighted to host Girl Scouts and their chaperones from Volusia County on Friday, June 11th for Girl Scout Fun Day! Pictona ambassadors Harold Wheeler, Dave McCurdy, and "Bandanna" Barb Croll were on hand to teach the girls Croquet, Bocce and Cornhole. The Kitchen provided lunch, and a good time was had by all. It was a great group of kids and future leaders.
Thanks to the Girl Scouts for joining us for a day of fun here at Pictona!
The Daytona Beach Area Women's Council of Realtors (WCR) hosted a fun 60 person pickleball event at Pictona for their members. Current Pictona member and current WCR President Bonnie Karet wanted to introduce Pictona and Pickleball to WCR members in the greater Daytona Beach area.
Pictona instructors conducted a 45 minute Pickleball 101 class for those who had never played before to introduce basic, strokes, strategies and scoring. Players were then able to continue playing with guided instruction from the coaches. WCR strategic partners also attended the event and enjoyed exhibiting under the shade of the SR Perrott Pavilion as they networked with other attendees.
After the pickleball play was completed participants and attendees had the opportunity to enjoy a burger off the Pictona grill and cool off with a cold beverage as they listened to great some great summer tunes.
Pictona would like to say thank you to the WCR and to those who attended for allowing us to host you for a great event!

On Wednesday, Cheryl Wynn, DPT from Thomas Physical Therapy, gave a terrific presentation on Office Ergonomics to employees from the City of Holly Hill. While enjoying a combination of salad, soup and sandwiches from the Kitchen, attendees were taught the common causes of pain in the office setting, as well as proper posture and exercises one can do to help alleviate that pain.
Many thanks to Cheryl for volunteering her time to educate us and help us create a healthier workspace. Also, thank you to the City of Holly Hill employees for coming over to Pictona and for all you do to help Pictona be successful!
