Learn while you play!
Guided play is a way for you to receive instruction while you are playing from a certified instructor to improve your technical and tactical skills. Instructors will place emphasis on helping you execute the six basic shots correctly and moving to the optimal court position and selecting the best shot for the situation. Guided play also creates an opportunity for you to meet and play with a variety of players at your skill level.
Feedback will be provided to you during play through stop action or "Freeze Play". Instructors will stop play, explain and demonstrate the action to be corrected, and quickly return to game play. After the session the instructor will provide you with a summary of your lay using the Pictona Skill Rating form. After completing PB 211, we recommend to participate in Pictona's Novice Mixers.
Sessions are 60 Minutes

Our PB-101 class is 90-minutes of instruction during which you will learn the basics of the game with our capable Pictona volunteer instructors. Classes are limited to 12 or fewer participants to maximize your opportunity to learn about pickleball and participate in skill instruction. Under the instructor's guidance you will be introduced to the soft game of pickleball known as dinking, shown how to volley, given the opportunity to hit ground strokes and instructed on how to serve. You will learn the rules of pickleball as you progress through the class. The culmination of the class will have you keeping score and playing a game of pickleball! AfterPB-101 you are invited to stay and play on the courts at Pictona for as long as you like that day.
PB-101 participants are also welcome to join us in The Kitchen, Pictona's onsite restaurant, for a tasty meal and cold drink after play. Check out The Kitchen menu here.
You'll find PB-101 Classes taking place on the covered courts at the MetroHealth Education Center. This setup ensures that you'll be shielded from direct sunlight, making it more comfortable to play in the Florida heat. Plus, the class will proceed regardless of weather conditions – rain or shine. Remember to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, and be sure to wear appropriate athletic shoes and comfortable clothing for the session.
We will provide paddles and balls for the class or bring your own paddle if you have one.
Thanks again to our PB-101 sponsor Karen Dillard of Realty Pros for helping us to share and grow this fun game!
