This is where it all begins for the new dancers! Start with the basics and learn all the easier and popular line dances. You’ll be amazed at your progression from week to week and feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction as to how “cool” line dancing can be!
Everyone tends to learn differently and at their own ability level. With that said, Joe teaches the steps in a coordinated fashion so that everyone understands the progression and can move at their own pace. He has been there – on “square one” – many years ago and can truthfully say that, within a few weeks of practice, it all starts to come together. Line Dancing is great exercise and loads of fun!
Two Left Feet? … No Problem!
Joe Parilla was born in Somerville, Massachusetts (just outside Boston) and lived on Cape Cod for 30 years before moving to Florida in 2003. Professionally, he was a typesetter for a major printer and graphic arts studio in Boston (keyboarding speed of over 140 w.p.m.) and then transitioned to administration and business and financial management for several Massachusetts companies. Some of his interests in life are, as expected, a passion for line dancing, followed by boating, hiking, golfing, running, exercising, and flying (private pilot).
Joe started line dancing in Hyannis, Massachusetts (Cape Cod) in 1989 and danced at clubs and establishments six nights a week for many years. He was a leader on the floor and had a particular skill for introducing spins and twirls into the dances, developing a group of followers that enjoyed his boundless energy and tutelage on the floor.
A patient and courteous instructor, Joe is easy-going and a delight to be around. He has taught all ages and abilities and says that everyone can line dance, even if they have “two left feet.” He says the fix for that is actually quite simple – just stand next to someone with two right feet! Joe promises that all beginners will be dancing at least three new dances in their first session.
Joe taught at many clubs and organizations here in central Florida and enjoyed teaching and DJ’ing for many years at the Rockin’ Ranch in Ormond Beach. And, occasionally, he will choreograph a line dance for certain occasions – at various levels and abilities – to be shared and enjoyed by all.
