In the event of inclement weather rendering the outside courts unplayable, Pictona's 13 covered courts may also be affected. Please read below for detailed rules and guidelines to better understand how specific events and programs scheduled on the covered courts are adjusted to accommodate Open Play.
- Private Instruction: No new private lessons can start when the outside courts are unplayable due to weather. Instructors can finish the hour of a lesson in session, but cannot start a new half-hour or hour. If the MetroHealth Stadium Courts (S1-S4) are unplayable due to weather, instruction cannot move to the AdventHealth Covered Courts (Courts 1-8) because those courts have also converted to Open Play.
- Pictona Classes/Courses: No new classes/courses can start when the outside courts are unplayable due to weather. Instructors can finish the hour of an in-session class, but cannot start a new hour. If the MetroHealth Stadium Courts (S1-S4) are unplayable due to weather, instruction cannot move to the AdventHealth Covered Courts (Courts 1-8) because those courts have also converted to Open Play.
- Pictona Camps: Camps scheduled on the covered courts have priority access during inclement weather conditions. Instructors leading camp sessions on the covered courts are permitted to proceed as scheduled. If a camp scheduled on the uncovered courts is affected by inclement weather, it will be relocated to covered courts even if other programs or events are affected.
- Scheduled Skill Level Play: All assigned skill level play courts convert to Open Play when the outside courts are unplayable due to weather.
- Pickleball-101 (PB-101): When the outside courts are unplayable due to weather, PB-101 will proceed on two MetroHealth Stadium Courts. If all of the MetroHealth Stadium Courts are unplayable due to weather, PB-101 will move to MetroHealth Championship Court.
- Challenge Courts: Challenge Courts are discontinued and converted to Open Play when the outside courts are unplayable due to weather.
- Exception: When PB-101 is being held and both the outdoor courts and the MetroHealth Stadium Courts (S1-S4) are unplayable due to weather, MetroHealth Championship Court will suspend Challenge Court play for PB-101. Open play will resume when PB-101 is complete. Challenge Court play will not resume until the outside courts are once again playable.
- POP! Activities: Covered courts being utilized for POP! Activities (uncommon) convert to Open Play at the conclusion of the ongoing game when the announcement is made that outside courts are unplayable due to weather.
- Private Reservations: Private reservations made on covered courts may be cancelled at management's discretion when the outside courts are unplayable due to weather. Players will be notified by email. Refunds will be issued to the original payment method.
- Non-Pictona Classes/Courses/Clinics: The cancellation policies for each event will be defined in the outside organization's contract agreement with Pictona. The Pictona event-liaison will relay the cancellation rules to the Welcome Desk Staff and the MODs for specific events to facilitate court usage.
