Meet Pictona Member, Alexander (Alex) Ramos Rolon
Alex started playing in September last year and had amazing results at last weekend's Moneyball Tournament, where he won three different divisions:
Alex discovered pickleball by chance while on a cruise with Hailey. They were looking for activities on the ship and decided try Pickleball open play on the deck. They loved it so much that as soon as they got home they looked for a local place to play. That’s when they found Pictona! Alex and Hailey joined Pictona last September and have developed a wonderful community of players, including Sky Kang!
Alex and Hailey also recently competed together at Pickle Money Ball in Jacksonville, where they took second place in Mixed Doubles 4.0 and Under. Alex is now off to Fort Lauderdale to continue his Pickle Money Ball journey and compete again! If you see him out on the courts, wish him luck!
| Pictona Education Associate
The Education Associate’s duties include the development and delivery of courses for players and recruiting, training, and coordinating our instructors. The position also includes assisting with the administration of our junior and adult player camps. This is a fulltime position working onsite at Pictona with cofounder of Pictona, Rainer Martens, who is the Education Director. The essential skills are (1) the ability to conceptualize courses, help develop the resources for those courses, and guide others in teaching those courses and (2) to provide the organizational skills to administer our junior and adult player camps. The educator selected for this position will have demonstrated the teaching of sports skills, preferably pickleball. While this position is not a teaching position, it is a position supervising the teaching staff. An in-depth knowledge of pickleball is essential, but being a professional player is not. Excellent organizational skills are essential to administer the instructional camps that are offered. Compensation for the position is $50,000 to $60,000. The starting date is immediate. Interested? Qualified? Contact Rainer Martens, Education Director, to apply for this position by submitting a cover letter explaining why you are interested along with your resume. Send to rainer@pictona.org |

| Become a Pictona Instructor
Pictona is expanding its educational programs and is looking for outstanding pickleball instructors, and those who want to be. Our instructors will be teaching courses, camps, and clinics throughout the year as well as offering private instruction to students of all ages and skill levels. Our instructors are part-time with flexible hours. Our instructors must possess the following qualifications:
We will assess your knowledge and skills and evaluate your teaching on the court. We seek individuals who now possess these qualifications and those who would like to obtain these qualifications through our training program. To become a Pictona Certified Instructor you must successfully complete the following:
We encourage former teachers, especially physical education teachers, to apply. We invite adult players who possess advanced technical and tactical skills, but we subscribe to the view that to be a good teacher you don’t need to be a pro player. We seek instructors who have a positive approach to teaching and will adopt the Pictona method of instruction (called the games approach). If you are interested in becoming a Pictona Certified Instructor, please send your resume and/or letter addressing the 3 points in the first paragraph above and send the information to Rainer Martens, Education Director, Rainer@pictona.orgg. I will acknowledge the receipt of your letter and inform you of the next steps. Being an instructor of this wonderful sport is a great way to make a contribution to the sport, to the people you teach, and to yourself. |

This is competitive programming intended for experienced players who are comfortable with structured match play. This is not an all-skill-level social mixer. It is a competitively focused event designed primarily for established 4.5+ players and ambitious challengers who genuinely believe they are ready to compete with that field.
The kickoff is provisional. Available ratings will help create the opening matchups, but performance on the court will determine playoff placement, cash-prize eligibility and the foundation for future competitive standings.
