Specialty Class (3.0 -3.5 Player)

***Partner Tactics & Set Plays ***

The Partner Tactic and Set Play Specialty class is a 1 ½ hour session and is taught by Pictona’s IPTPA certified instructor, Sylvia Whitehouse and is limited to 8 participants.

Is this class appropriate for you? Participants should be 3,0-3.5 or above and the ability to execute successful forehand and backhand strokes with a 70%+ accuracy as well as being able to maintain a 8+ shot or more rally.

In this month’s  “Partner Tactics & Set Plays” the emphasis will be moving with your partner and cause and effect with shot selection.  Shot selection needs to have a purpose and a plan and players need to move and react accordingly.  It is no longer my side our side as one player needs to be covering the middle at all times depending on where the ball hit lands.

• Learn the importance of you serve and return of serve shots and how each player needs to move accordingly. At all times you are making progress towards the kitchen line either stepping ahead or diagonally…then shifting laterally once you make it to the kitchen line.
• Learn to set up your partner on the return of serve and how the net person needs to be a “shark” and poach.
• Learn to and be confident to attack a successful third shot drop by your partner and understand the time needed to drill and perfect your drop shot is well worth the time investment.
• Learn how to handle the balls that may come your way if your partners 3^rd shot is a drive instead of a drop shot.

Players will participate in several drills of “game situation scenarios” to practice concepts and the last part of the lesson, participants will play out points.

*Routinely drilling, practicing and or having instruction will help achieve consistency and lower unforced errors also helping to build muscle memory player confidence and improve game mental toughness.
